Activities: Final Reflection
Technical Information: HTML coding, WYSIWYG
Reflection: I started working as an internship for Green Pea Baby on October 25, 2011. My first couple days of work were very nerve-racking and I was very nervous. A lot of the co-workers started to help me the first couple of days but then I was on my own for the rest of the internship.
When I first started working, I coded the back side of the website coding HTML and using WYSIWYG. Whenever I wasn't working on the website, I helped with customer service and helping people around the store. I usually found myself working with Mrs. Cathey, Janna, Erin, and sometimes Amber. We all had our own responsibilities so we were always busy in our own way.
Overall, my internship helped me discover what I want to do when I am older and it gave me a great opportunity. For next year's interns, I would not suggest Green Pea Baby because they do not pay and it's a big responsibility for a high schooler. I enjoyed my internship and I learned a lot.

What have you done at your internship that makes you proud?
Date: March 28, 2012
Activities: HTML coding
Technical information: HTML, WYSIWYG
Reflection: With all of the tasks I have performed at Green Pea Baby, there are some tasks that I'm very proud of. Working with HTML is a very hard task that not a lot of high schoolers except AOIT students know. With working on the back page of the website, I used WYSIWYG a lot of the time, which may seem easier than HTML but it's still challenging.
A lot of the tasks that I'm very proud of include all of the products I've uploaded to Green Pea Baby website. Looking for the merchandise on the manufacturers website was a very challenging task because Green Pea Baby gets their products from all over. Basically every day at work, I'd upload from 20-50 products on the website a day.
It made me very proud that I had the ability to HTML code thanks to AOIT. It's a very impressive skill and I loved using it at my internship site. In the future at my future job, hopefully I can show off my HTML coding skills.

How have your duties changed since you first started?
Date: March 27, 2012
Activities: Duties
Technical Information: HTML coding
Reflection: When I first started working at Green Pea Baby Boutique, my responsibilities were not as hard as they are now. My first couple days of work, I shadowed a couple of my co-workers who were familiar with the HTML coding. After my first week, I started coding by myself. To trust a high schooler to code your website was a very big responsibility to me.
My duties/responsibilities have not majorly changed since I started working at Green Pea Baby. Some days at work, they have me do cutomer service instead of coding the website. Personally, I like working with the customers better some days. Having adult responsibilites was a lot of pressure for myself to do the best I could.
As I continued to work at Green Pea Baby, I worked my way to more and more duties/responsibilites.

What are the major problems or frustration at your work?
Date: March 26, 2012
Activities: Finding merchandise off of the company's website
Technical Information: HTML coding
Reflection: Working at Green Pea Baby was fun at times but also very frustrating. As all AOIT students know, HTML is a very frustrating task to deal with. Another major frustration I had to deal with was finding merchandise that was in the store on their original company's website. Also, coming up with descriptions for the countless items was very frustrating.
The co-workers at Green Pea Baby would help me at times but a lot of the times, I had to figure it out on my own. I wish I had more assistance in finding the products on their website and given more directions on how to use WYSIWYG. Another major problem was I was not paid for my hard work. At Green Pea Baby, I was not paid to do the HTML coding which could be very intensive and hard.
Overall, I had a great experience at Green Pea Baby but as every job, there was many frustrations with my every day work.

What training or education must you have to pursue this career?
Date: March 25, 2012
Activities: Education for this career
Technical Information: N/A
Reflection: At my internship site, there is many different careers going on. Krista Cathey, the owner, is in charge of running the business. Janna Johnson and Erin Sennert are managers and help Mrs. Cathey run the business. Cheryl Brewer is the interior designer at the business. For every career, you need a different education.
The career I'm most interest in is Mrs. Cathey's position. In order to pursue this career you must major in business and minor in interior design. In the future I would love to own my own interior design business or fashion boutique. Majoring in business and minoring in design is very important for me to pursue this career.

What do you feel is your main contribution to your internship site?
Date: March 8, 2012
Activities: Computer apps I and II, E-Commerce I and II
Technical Information: HTML coding
Reflection: Green Pea Baby has a rapidly growing website. I feel as I have many responsibilities at my internship site but I also have a main contribution. I feel my main contribution is coding the back site of the website and uploading new products to the website.
When I come into work, Mrs. Cathey or whoever is working that day gives my a list of products that have came into the store with all of the information needed for the website and I upload them. Usually this process can take a long time because I must find the correct information from the distributor and upload it to the Green Pea website.
If I'm not coding the back site of the website then I help customers with any questions they have around the store or do anything Mrs. Cathey needs help with. Usually the store isn't too busy when I am coding the back site of the website so that is what most of my time goes forth to. Overall, I am here to code the back site of the website and I feel as that is my main contribution.
